The Belafonte Centennial Project

"The Belafonte Centennial Project" is a year-long initiative hosted by myself, and Menno Dreischor who runs the Harry Belafonte Television and Video Archive YouTube channel.

We are hoping to educate, entertain, and... gather voices... by creating a stream of posts and conversations through social media and our channels from March 1, 2026 to March1, 2027 - what would have been Harry's 100th birthday.

We hope you will join us in the converstion!

This is what we are working on now.... Links to the Facebook post will be made available upon posting. If you are not a Facebook user, you may still see them (unclear as to how many before Facebook prompts you to login - and even then, there may be an X in the corner to close the prompt.)  Please let us know your experience here. If necessary, we'll work on a work-around.

Goes without saying - Future titles & post dates are tentative, and may change.

THE MENTOR: PAUL ROBESON

We're Gathering Voices

We’re proud to announce a new collaborative project honouring the life and legacy of Harry Belafonte.

This will be a year-long exploration of his music, his impact, and his extraordinary legacy as an artist and humanitarian.

To support the project, we’re creating a dedicated Facebook page that will serve as a central gathering hub for updates, discussions, archival material, and community engagement.

The page will officially launch in a couple of weeks, but we wanted to let you know now and invite you to follow along from the beginning.

If Harry Belafonte’s music ever moved you…If his activism inspired you…If you believe in the power of art to shape the world…We hope you’ll join us.

More details coming soon. 💛
